A storyteller with a humanitarian heart.
Jane Spitz is a filmmaker and strategic communications specialist working at the intersection of people, policy, and public service. She holds a BA in Political Science and Environment & Society from the University of British Columbia and studied crisis communications at the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
At the centre of Jane’s work is a commitment to bridging the gap between those who create policy and the people whose lives are shaped by it. She acts as a thoughtful translator for the complex issues, research, and data that define public health and safety, turning technical information into stories that speak to the heart. By serving as a bridge between policy makers, frontline workers, and the communities they serve, Jane ensures that every story is more than just a report. Through a blend of strategy, design, and cinema, she helps donors and the public see the human reality behind the objectives, making sure that what is happening is truly understood and those impacted are never forgotten.
Her work has taken her around the world, leading projects in Botswana, New Zealand, and Vanuatu. Her debut documentary film Tshidilo raised awareness for spine care in underserved communities, using storytelling as a tool for education, advocacy, and access.
Most recently, Jane led communications for the BC Professional Fire Fighters Association and the Burn Fund, producing award-winning public safety and digital campaigns recognized with three IAFF Media Awards. Today, she works as a bridge between strategy and story, partnering with public safety, public health, and charitable organizations to elevate communications plans into cinematic storytelling that audiences understand, trust, and connect with.
